Two educational days with breakfast, lunch, networking with fellow members and credits (between 30-40 attendees at each) 2.Subsidization was provided to: Regional conference 3 members ASHRM registration President elect 3. Annual Board retreat – multistate representation NNESHRM COMMITTEES 2011 Nominating Committee: Bylaw Definition: “The nominating committee shall be composed of three or more members, at least a majority of whom shall be active members. Two of these members shall be the immediate past president who shall serve as chairperson of the committee and the Secretary.. . . .A good faith effort shall be made to have representation from all three states.” 2011 Members: Chair Members: Nancy Fredholm Chaele Ellsworth Susan Boisvert Lou Anne McLeod BYLAWS - POLICIES Bylaws were updated and submitted to ASHRM in 2010 Policies were reviewed 2011 – on WIKI Substantive change: Development of a subsidization policy based on the prior application. Board approved July 2011. Future Need: Revision of record retention grid SUBSIDIZATION CRITERIA Eligibility Requirements: • Be an active member of NNESHRM for at least 12 months whose membership dues are current • Attend the entire conference that is subsidized • Have not received a NNESHRM subsidization within the 12 months prior to their application Factors considered: Attendance at NNESHRM annual meeting, education days and regional meetings Active participation at NNESHRM Board Meetings Active service on NNESHRM Committees Prior subsidization received from NNESHRM SELECTION PROCESS A review committee made up of: Board Secretary Treasurer or member of Finance committee Membership Committee Chair Past President CONFERENCE SUBSIDY – PRESIDENT ELECT NNESHRM will subsidize the President-Elect to attend the annual ASHRM conference when fiscally feasible in order to represent NNESHRM and increase leadership skills. This conference subsidy may be used to pay for all or part of: The conference registration fee. Travel by common carrier or personally-owned vehicle (POV). If the travel is by common carrier, the subsidy will be based on the lowest available cost for that type of carrier, taking into consideration advance-purchase low-cost fares. If the travel is by POV, the subsidy will be based on the approved IRS rates for business mileage. Lodging for the number of days the conference is held in the lowest-cost conference hotel or one of equal or lesser cost. CONFERENCE SUBSIDY- CHAPTER MEMBERS Chapter members may apply for subsidization of all or part of a conference registration fee to attend the ASHRM annual conference or New England Regional Annual Conference. Additionally, NNESHRM will attempt to provide one or more annual education days at little or no cost to its members. The amount available for these subsidies will be determined at the annual Board retreat and will be included in the budget for the year. The amount budgeted may be adjusted based on the NNESHRM’s financial situation at the time the subsidies are made. This conference subsidy may be used to pay for all or part of the conference registration fee. The subsidy will be provided as a reimbursement after verification that the conference was attended EXPECTATIONS FOR NNESHRM LEADERS OR MEMBERS RECEIVING THE SUBSIDY The President Elect will attend Chapter Leadership Day when attending the ASHRM Annual Conference. Members will prepare and present at a NNESHRM education day, a report on the conference for members who may not have been able to attend. CPHRM EXAMINATION SUBSIDY An active member of NNESHRM for at least 12 months, whose membership dues are current Reimbursement for the CPHRM examination fee after verification of passing the examination has been submitted NNESHRM COMMITTEES 2011 Communication Committee: Bylaw Definition: “The committee shall be composed of three or more members who shall develop and maintain communication within the society and among its members, including management of the NNESHRM website and communication devices such as “Flashmail”. The President shall appoint an active member as Chair of the committee.” 2011 Members: Chair – Bill Zuber(Board Member) Cynthia Bridgham (Board Member) Vacant 2011 GOALS: • Bill Zuber to take over as Chair. – • Will review/ update website. – – – • Communications and Membership Committees swapped Chairs at the beginning of the year. The Board discussed the desired functionality and purpose of the NNESHRM website, and how this has changed since its inception Defined what the role of the website is for the organization Elected to move forward with updating the website and possible connections with ASHRM Further explore ASHRM support for linked website. – – Jay Purcell and Bill Zuber voluntered to serve on ASHRM’s Chapter Leadership Committee. Will seek advancement of national assistance to have ASHRM host chapter websites to support consistency of format and content, and provide stronger link to national organization. (Not happening. . . . . . .yet) ROLE/PURPOSE OF THE NNESHRM WEBSITE • Provide access to relevant timely information for society members – – – • Be the central repository for current and historical documents – – – – • Posting educational opportunities Mechanisms to share current minutes from Board meetings and educational session materials Provide linkages for members (member lists) Posting for upcoming and recent educational events (registration forms) Membership application forms Bylaws Maintain historical information for the society (old bylaws, minutes, etc “behind the scenes”) Provide central access for Board Members for regular meetings – One place to post agenda, attachments, meeting minutes, etc. WHAT THE WEBSITE WILL NOT BE: • Wiki will go away – – – – – • Links page – – • Old technology, very “klunky” and not user friendly ASHRM Exchange is a wider forum with better information, can set up groups within Exchange if there is interest We all have enough emails and listserves to deal with, who has time for the Wiki? Other than Board members, not used all that much Better communication tool appears to be FLASHMAIL, so we will use that medium for communication Will either go away, or be greatly reduced Are you going to go the NNESHRM website to look for a link or are you going to Google? (Be truthful now. . . . ) Job Postings – Will be sent through FLASHMAIL, so we don’t have to maintain and update postings on the website.
