Monday the 8 th of June is the Queen’s Birthday Public holiday. They competed against multiple schools and finished in the top 10 for their respective ages. The Southern Metropolitan Region Cross Country will take place on Monday 15th June. Mr. Andrew Stock MIDDLE SCHOOL COORDINATOR PRIMARY NEWS Mt Hira College is going to again participate in the Tournament of Minds with a select group of students. It is an honour to be selected for this event and the students will be working with Ms Sarah and Ms Kara over the coming weeks to prepare for their presentation which will occur in August. I wish all students best of luck on this endeavour. The Grade 5 and 6 students are at school today to compete against Keysborough in the interschool sports. I wish the students good luck in their different sports today. The Mt Hira scarves are now available for purchasing from the office. They cost $10 and are white with embroidery. Please get your Mt Hira scarf as soon as possible. The oval has had fencing put up during the week as they are beginning to construct the new sporting area. The students are not allowed on this area during the construction process. It will be amazing when it is finished and the students will really enjoy using the new sporting areas. On Friday 5th June there is no school for students as it is report writing day. There is also no school on Monday 8th June as it is the Queen’s Birthday holiday. Coryn Bretag, PRIMARY COORDINATOR Mert 2S On Friday it was our excursion. We put our bags into the basket but Miss. Stone was sick that’s why Miss. Hosenbucus took us to the excursion with the bus it was 2 hours but when we went in the city I saw the Eureka Tower it was big. Then we stopped I saw the Melbourne Museum and IMAX it was big we went inside there was a man he gave us glasses but Miss. Hosenbucus and the man said don’t wear them because then you can’t see where you are going then you can fall then the movie started the dinosaurs looked like it was going to eat me but I learnt some things when the meteor came they died but the Barcasaurous didn’t dig but then they died. My favourite part was when we were in IMAX. Anam 2S On the 29th of May 2S and 2H went to IMAX. We watched a 3D movie. It was called Giants of Patagonia. We went on a bus to get there. The movie was fun. Then we went to the Melbourne Museum. We ate lunch in a park then we went to the kids area. I played with the hoola hoop. Then we went on a dinosaur walk. The bones were so big. My favourite part was IMAX because I liked the movie. İSTANBUL`UN FETHİ Osmanlı Devleti`nin Yükselme Dönemi padişahlarından Fatih Sultan Mehmet ,29 Mayıs 1453 tarihinde İstanbul`u fethederek Türkler`in Anadolu`yu yurt adinmesine vesile olmuştur. Anadolu`ya gelen ve 1299 tarihinde kurulan Osmanlı Beyliği yavaş yavaş Anadolu`yu ele geçiriyor.Anadolu`da birliği sağlıyor ve İstanbul`u almak için yapılan girişimler ise sonuç vermiyordu. İstanbul`un Türkler için önemi çok büyüktü. Çünkü Anadolu`dan Avrupa`ya geçişte zorluk çekiliyordu. Bu yüzden İstanbul`un ele geçirilmesi gerekiyordu. Bu durumu gören Fatih Sultan Mehmet İstanbul`u almak için ön hazırlıklara başladı.Önce Anadolu Hisarı`nın karşısına Rumeli Hisarı`nı yaptırdı. Kuvvetli bir deniz donanması hazırladı. Kalın surları yıkmak için o devrin en büyük toplarını döktürdü. Tüm hazırlıkları tamamlayan Fatih Sultan Mehmet güçlü ve düzenli bir orduyla Edirne`den İstanbul önlerine geldi. Nisan ayı başında şehri karadan ve denizden kuşattı. Bizans kralına elçiler göndererek, şehri teslim etmesini istedi. Ancak kabul edilmedi. 6 Nisan 1453 yılında savaş başladı. Karadan toplar surları döverken , Türk donanması ise zinciri kırıp Haliç`e giremedi. Bunun üzerine Fatih Sultan Mehmet, 72 parça gemiyi bir gecede karadan ,Tophane Limanı`ndan Tepebaşı`na çıkardı. Oradan da Kasımpaşa`ya getirerek Haliç`e indirdi.Sabahleyin Türk donanmasını karşılarında gören bizanslılar çok şaşırdılar. Donanmanın denizden saldırıya katılmasıyla Bizanslılar`ın gücü zayıfladı. Top atışları ile surlardan açılan ,büyük gedik ve deliklerden Türk askerleri şehire girdi. 29 Mayıs 1453 tarihinde İstanbul Türkler`in eline geçti. Fatih Sultan Mehmet böylece Peygamber efedimizin övgüsüne mazhar olmuştur.Fatih Sultan Mehmet İstanbul`da yaşayan azınlıklara bu ülkede istediğiniz gibi özgürce ve serbestçe yaşaya bilirsiniz demiştir. İstanbul`un Fethi`nin Türk ve Dünya tarihi bakımından önemli sonuçları olmuştur.Türkler bu şehri kendilerine başkent yaptılar.Osmanlı Devleti`nin bir dünya devleti olduğu kabul edildi.İstanbul ve Çanakkale Boğazlar`ı Türkler`in eline geçti.Türkler`in Avrupa`da güvenle yerleşmeleri sağlandı.Bin yıldır devam eden Bizans İmparatorluğu sona erdi. İstanbul`un fethi Orta Çağ`ın sonu Yeni Çağ`ın başlangıcı olarak kabul edildi. İstanbulu bizlere kazandıran Fatih Sultan Mehmet`i ve onun askerlerini rahmetle anıyor İstanbul`un Fethi`nin 562 inci yıl dönümünü kutluyor ve hepinize saygılar sunuyorum. Mrs Erenli R/E Co-ordinator Collection Notice Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability All schools in Australia, including government, independent and catholic schools, will participate in the Nationally Consistent Collection of Data on School Students with Disability (the data collection) this year. The data collection is an annual count of the number of students with disability receiving educational adjustments to support their participation in education on the same basis as students without disability. All education agencies are now required under the Australian Education Regulation 2013 to provide information on a student’s level of education, disability and level of adjustment to the Australian Government Department of Education and Training. *Data will be re-identified prior to its transfer to the Australian Government Department of Education and Training. No student’s identity will be provided to the Australian Government Department of Education and Training. The collection of this information from states and territories will inform future policy and program planning in relation to students with disability.
