Kızıl Meydan: Moskova’nın temellerinin atıldığı rivayet edilen bu ünlü meydan, tam 73 bin metrekare. İsmine dair birkaç farklı rivayet var. İlki şu: Kızıl kelimesi Moscow is a fascinating city that gets its name from the river that runs through the area. It was founded on seven hills in the 10th century by the Slavic race, and quickly became one of the world's most important centres of finance, art and commerce. It is a true metropolis spanning 40 kilometres from north to south, and about 30 kilometres east to west. For this reason, it’s impossible to fit Moscow's iconic symbols into five bullet points. But if your time is limited you can at least see the buildings I’m about to list and travel back to centuries-old Moscow. There are several rumours about its name. The first is that the word ‘red’ (KpacHo) is used to mean beautiful in Russian, so Red Square means ‘Beautiful Square’. The second is that the Tsar gave the square this name because the surrounding wooden buildings were constantly burning down. The last is that the square was named thus because of the vast amount of bloodshed that occurred there. These days it’s the centre of splendour and glory, because if you stand in the middle, you’ll see the Kremlin behind you with its red brick walls, the coloured towers of St. Basil's Cathedral to your right, the Gum 120 year-old shopping centre built of rustic stone, steel and glass in front and Moscow Museum of History, again of red brick, to your left.
