Dr. Belma Haznedar, 1989 yılında Hacettepe Üniversitesi’nden mezun olmuş ve Yüksek Lisans ve Doktora çalışmalarını Çocukta İkinci Dil Edinimi alanında İngiltere’de Durham Üniversitesi’nde tamamlayarak, 1998 yılında Türkiye’ye dönmüş tür. 1998 yılından beri Boğaziçi Üniversitesi, Eğitim Fakültesi, Yabancı Diller Eğitimi Bölümü’nde görev yapmakta olan Dr. Haznedar’ın. son yıllardaki çalışmaları, eşzamanlı ikidillilik ve çocuklara erken yaşta dil öğretimi konularına odaklanmıştır. Kasım 2005 ile Haziran 2006 tarihleri arasında, davetli öğretim üyesi olarak, İngiltere’de Newcastle Üniversitesi, İngiliz Dili ve Dilbilim Bölümü’nde ve Almanya’da Hamburg Üniversitesi, Çokdillilik ve Çok Kültürlülük Araştırma Merkezi’nde (Research centre 538: Multilingualism) seminerler vermiştir. Uzun süreli araştırma iznini kullandığı bu dönemde, Iowa Üniversitesi Dilbilim Bölümü öğretim üyesi Dr Elena Gavruseva ile geliştirmiş olduğu kitap önerisi John Benjamins yayınevi tarafından kabul edilmiş ve Current Trends in Child Second Language Acquisition: A Generative Perspective başlıklı kitap, Haziran 2008 ‘de John Benjamins tarafından yayınlanmıştır. Dr. Belma Haznedar, son on yıldan bu yana, Second Language Research, Language Learning ve Applied Psycholinguistics gibi uluslararası atıf dizininde yer alan dergilerde hakem olarak görev yapmaktadır.
