Only use onların in order to use the short ending for the possessed item. Örnekler: bluzum my blouse fully: benim bluzum sütün your milk fully: senin sutun pasaportu his passport fully: onun pasaportu Türkçemiz our Turkish fully: bizim Turkcemiz eviniz your house fully onların evi their house sizin eviniz The possessive can be used in sentences using the structures already seen in previous lessons. They can be used in negative sentences with değil to say that something does not belong to you. They can be used in questions to ask if something belongs to someone else. They can be used with bu, o, var, yok to make variety of different sentences. These can be substituted with a different noun so that the possessor can be specified as what it is. This could be a name or another noun. Örnekler: kedinin topu __the cat’s ball _ arabanın camı __ _ evin kapısı __ _ öğretmenlerin evi __ _ babamın arabası __ _ (literally my father his car) Adjectives Adjectives, which are describing words such as colours, can be used with possessives to describe them. In English, the adjectives go between the possessed item and the possessor: the teacher’s big but old house Possessed and possessor are separated by the adjectives describing the possessed item. It’s the same in Turkish. öğretmenin büyük ama eski evi When saying something is big or black etc then the adjective will go to the end of the sentence. Both can be used in conjunction in one sentence.
