We work HARD. We play FAIR. We do our BEST. Newsletter 11.04.16 Dear parents, Welcome to the first newsletter of the Summer term. We hope you enjoyed the Easter break, and that you are ready for the new term. Heritage Day Coffee Afternoon: We would like to thank all parents, carers and other members of our community who joined us for our Heritage Day coffee afternoon, which was well attended. Not only was it a great way for parents and carers to see some of the work our children had produced as part of Heritage Day, but it was also a lovely opportunity for parents, carers and staff to meet and speak with each other, whilst enjoying a coffee and biscuit. Mrs Glover, our History Coordinator, worked very hard in organising and arranging the Heritage Day topic areas, activities and guests. You may recall Mrs Glover left us at Easter for a new venture, however, she used the coffee afternoon as an opportunity to say farewell to the children in her class and to members of staff. What a wonderful note it was to leave on. Mrs Glover, with parents, pupils and visitors enjoying the Heritage Day Easter Raffle: Thank you to everyone who bought raffle tickets, we are pleased to report that we raised over £120.00 for the PTA, we are sure the money will be spent wisely! We would also like to say a huge thank you to Sainsbury’s superstore who generously donated numerous eggs and chocolate bunnies; it’s fair to say the children were eggcited to win some goodies! Miss Lawless has already spent time in 2F getting to know the pupils, and she is now looking forward to working with them. Contact Details: Polite reminder, please can you ensure that school has an up-to-date telephone number, as we have had a number of occasions whereby we have been unable to contact parents/carers regarding their child’s health and well-being. It is vital that we can contact someone at all times during the day, if necessary. Please contact the school office, either in person, or on 01422 352856 to update your information. Thank you in advance for your support with this matter. Being late for school – what does it mean for your child? Please ensure your child arrives at school on time. The playground doors open at 8.45 and will close promptly at 8.55. After this time you must bring your child in via the school office. Arriving late for school in the mornings can be very disruptive – not only for the child that is late but for the other children in the class. It is distracting for the teacher and can take some minutes to restore calm and concentration. Being late for lessons can mean missing key moments when lessons are explained before work starts. Repeated episodes of lateness could mean your child starts to fall behind in a number of subjects and begins to lose interest in their education. If you would like to discuss your child’s attendance or lateness then please do not hesitate to contact Mrs Palmer on 352856 / 380334.
